Meet Me

Manila, PH- I knew I was born to roam. In spite of my parents’ objections, I learned to commute at a young age. I saved my allowances for a weekend somewhere other than my house. I simply can not stay in one place and if I do, I know deep in my heart that I’m missing a lot of things..there are places waiting to be explored and millions of possibilities in store for me.

Who doesn’t like shopping? Compared to others, I don’t use much of my money shopping but I use it to get somewhere – north or south, beach or mountain, city or rural, quiet or chaotic. So while my sisters and other friends have closets filled with clothes and shoes, I have memories of Broadway, the busy streets of Manhattan, and the stillness of suburban Baltimore on an autumn morning.

I would not know how it feels to actually buy a $200 pair of shoes but I definitely remember how happy my friends and I were when we found a 2 dollar tunic in Siem Reap. Good thing my sisters and I have the same shoe size!

I may not be able to enjoy eating in fancy restos right now but I know nothing compares to authentic Viet cuisine in Ben Thanh market. Champagne is good, Cuba Libre shared with friends and interesting people after a day’s trip around Sagada is better, but a good conversation after seeing L.A.'s The Getty Museum is still on top of my list.

i'm bored to death and too tired from work but i know i have gotta read something that could be my "today's food for the soul"...and yeah after some conversation in ym with ate joy, she gave me one hell of an idea...go over their blog and relish its substance! i am a twenty something person and though i'm not a girl like the authors of this blogspot, i can very well relate to their "wants" and "needs", their dreams and aspirations.

Like them, I’m also wanting to have some adventure in my life…young as I am, I want to explore and roam and learn some more…I totally agree with them when they say that life isn’t about confining yourself in the classroom, boardroom or operating room...sometimes we should go out and experience life in its rawness…maybe travel to a distant place and discover some new culture or just go out in the streets of manila and spend some time with the street kids…their smiles could give you a different kind of energy and bring you some ecstacy…and yes, even listening to good music can be a fun exploit. There are a hundred and one things that you can do…and I believe, after reading everything, that there is a “backpacker’s” spirit in all of us!

I know I’m putting this comment under one of the articles, but believe me when I say that I’ve read through each blog…I enjoyed everything and now I have a new mission, I may not become one of them but I’m resolved to be on an adventure-filled backpacking trip in this thing called life!
